If New Star focused young singers, X Factor is a population ranging from students to retirees. In addition, hearings are not held in camera and a capella as was the case for the former flagship show of M6, but on a real stage with orchestra and audience support. A jury assesses the performance of candidates and approves them or not to continue the adventure.
For this first edition of X Factor, the chain has invested in a professional jury composed of Christophe Willem Véronic DiCaire (Canadian singer impersonator), Henry Padovani (guitarist and founding member of The Police) and Olivier Schultheis (former conductor New Star).
A jury more involved
The jury has traveled the four corners of France and Belgium to go in search of their gem. In total, nearly 25,000 candidates who tried their luck and after the hearings are 400 people who were accepted and were offered the chance to go again before the jury.
